Luis Aldrete (1971) graduated from the architectural school in the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) of Guadalajara. He undertook further studies at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña and his professional internships at Mallorca. In 2007 he founded Luis Aldrete Architects. Until 2007 he taught theory and projects at the ITESM, Guadalajara, Mexico, and is currently teaching at ITESO.
In 2008 he took part in the exhibition ‘Contribuir, habitar, pensar; “Perspectivas del arte y la arquitectura contemporánea” at the IVAM Institut Valencià d’Art Modern, in Valencia, Spain. In 2011 his project “La Ruta del Peregrino” was selected to be part of the architecture collection of the “Centre Pompidou” in Paris, France. In 2012 he was a lecturer at the Woodbury School of Architecture in San Diego, California; he participated in the Official Selection of the 13th edition of La Biennale di Venezia: Common Ground, and he was invited to participate in “The Third AULA Latin American Architecture Symposium: The New Mexico” at the University of New Mexico. In 2013 he was invited to the “Latitudes 5”congress in Sao Paulo, Brazil, organized by the Faculty of Architecture in the University of Sao Paulo(FAU USP) and the Architecture School of Austin, Texas (UTSoA).
