For seven years since its foundation in 2011, LIGA occupied a minimal gallery of just 16 m2 on the ground floor of a building by Augusto Álvarez and Sordo Madaleno, on Insurgentes Avenue. On September 19, 2017 Mexico City was severely damaged by an earthquake and we had to abandon our offices. This natural phenomenon led us to look for a new space in the Doctores neighborhood and to rethink our undertaking as a cultural space, in a city that is riven by radical geographical, political and social changes.
