My initial approach to UNAM’s digital archive was somewhat naïve. I wasn’t sure where to begin, what to look for, or what I might discover. So, I started browsing almost at random, selecting magazines intuitively. Traza was one of the first publications I came across—one I had access to during my student years—so that’s where I began. I soon encountered several articles from Arquitectos de México, and started to gravitate toward texts that explored the construction of architectural thought and the potential for discourse to be imbued with substance—whether stemming from professional practice or academic reflection. These writings offer valuable insights for shaping meaningful narratives within contemporary architectural practice.
My second selection builds on the first, highlighting the ideas of various architects, often through critical analysis of their built work. Lastly, I included five texts that discuss postmodernism, which I find particularly relevant as a lens through which to critique current architectural practices in Mexico.
Ultimately, my selection reflects personal interests—centered on how to construct an ideology that is rich in meaning and capable of generating a distinct architectural language rooted in inquiry and experimentation.
