LIGA 38: Atelier Caracas (Ven). Rigor
Photography: Arturo Arrieta
Confining art within delimited parcels and imprisoning it within definitions is a limiting and stifling attitude.
It’s not merely about discussing architecture, painting, photography, sculpture… We must embrace the image, whether flat or three-dimensional, in its entirety.
The artwork is not an end in itself but a means to express new ways of seeing the world.
Both literature and music have the power to generate mental images, transcending the boundaries imposed by conventional categories.
Emptiness is fundamental, akin to the significance of silence in music.
The importance of a vessel lies in the empty space it creates; it is the form that contains the liquid.
In contrast to the rigidity of curators’ classification and labeling, a predictable gesture, we advocate for the unpredictable act of imagination.
We advocate for copulation, hybridization, and the impurity of artistic languages, encouraging a cross-disciplinary reading that challenges the borders imposed by the disciplines of the sensible.
We defend the right to error and slowness as acts of creative freedom.
Only through rigor can we achieve true expression in artistic practice.
