April 11, 2015
As part of the 1st Michigan/Mellon Symposium Project “Egalitarianism and the Metropolis” at the University of Michigan, on April 11, 2015, a group of international academics and designers met to share their work and build a research network. Drawing on research carried out in Detroit, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro, the symposium has aimed to investigate how to balance rights and privileges in a metropolitan urban context. The symposium was organized into four sessions, each focused on an overarching theme of the Michigan-Mellon Project (a 4-year, $1.3 million initiative funded by the AW Mellon Foundation).
